For BostonCoach, a Fidelity Investments subsidiary, providing a green workplace was as much a strategic tool to attract and retain employees as it was a symbol of their ongoing company-wide commitment and philosophy to follow sound environmental practices.
With the help of the project team, including ADD Inc., RDK Engineers, ELAINE Construction, Jones Lang LaSalle and Beal Companies, BostonCoach was able to meet and exceed the expectations set forth.
Project Accomplishments:
The project�s furniture, raised floor, millwork and carpet led to two LEED Innovation in Design credits: achieving 79% in regional manufacturing, and 31.7% in recycled content.
Lighting energy was reduced by 30% and 126,000 gallons of water will be saved annually. In addition, 90% of all construction waste was recycled.
In terms of employee retention, BostonCoach lost less than 1% of its workforce as a result of the move to Boston.
The 120-degree angle allows for more efficient layout, and for a �cockpit� design which contributes to both the openness of the space and to the improved functionality of the smaller footprint workstations.
The underfloor air distribution system not only improves comfort, it allows significant flexibility in reconfigurations and employee relocations within the space. Access to tel/data wiring is easy and no disturbance to the tenants on the floor below is required in order to access the wiring and complete moves.
